Reducing Costs For Managed Care Organizations

Our managed care clients want to reduce their costs. At upwards of $1,000 each day, hospitalization is particularly expensive for them. Hospitalization of patients with particular chronic and acute conditions can be prevented through early and proactive medical management of patients with certain common chronic diseases, e.g., asthma, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF), etc. We help managed care organizations understand where and how they can keep their members healthy enough so that hospitalization will not be needed, through specific early proactive practices. First, as part of our diagnosis and assessment, we depict the extent of potentially avoidable hospitalization, as in the map below.
